Aging with dignity

There is a time for putting together.
And another time for taking apart.
He who understands this course of events
Takes each new state in its proper time
With neither sorrow nor joy.
The ancients said: "The hanged man cannot cut himself down."

(Chuang Tzu)

The inevitable

We are all getting older. It is inevitable. Everything has its time then fades away. This is part of living.
Life has its seasons and autumn cannot be avoided any more than winter.
It is a natural process.

Fighting against the reality of aging is foolish and pointless.

Youth

Clinging to the illusion that beauty can only be found in youth is one folly of modern society.
People pay for plastic surgery and expensive cosmetic products in the hope of looking younger.
Yet, youth is just part of the aging process.
Once it has gone, do not chase it.

Instead of pining for what has been, enjoy what is happening now.

Choiceless

Aging and eventual death are unavoidable.

Acceptance is irrelevant; we will die whether we accept it or not.
Realising that there is nothing you can do about it is very important.

You can end the struggle and move with the flow.
This will not remove your ailments but it will help you to live with what you have.

Dreams of youth are an attempt to ignore reality.
Why bother?

Eat sensibly, exercise and relax. Live a life of quality and dignity.

Find joy in what is happening right now in your life and make every day count.
