Feedback

I've done some martial arts before including tai chi but Sifu Waller's syllabus is so beyond anything I've seen it's ridiculous! Practically all my previous training has not helped me at all and I'm just grateful I found Sifu Waller when I did.

Private lessons

Private students benefit from individual one-to-one attention:

What you are doing is very special - nothing like it in this area!

(Steve Pardue)

I became a student of Newcastle Tai Chi just over 3 years ago. Previously to that I served nearly 9 years as a Royal Marines Commando which was and as you would expect, quite challenging. I spent most of my time based at 45 Commando which is in Arbroath, Scotland. The time was unforgettable and very rewarding.

When I left and started work back home in the North East I found myself searching for something else. Something to keep myself fit, occupied and challenged. I decided to search for a martial arts class. I came across Newcastle Tai Chi in my home town of Newcastle and after reading the website I knew I'd found something special, something extraordinary. I was hooked and needed to attend a lesson.

From the first day walking into the training hall I have never looked back. The welcome from the Instructor and the other students made me feel comfortable and put me at ease, which is always good when starting somewhere new. I had never realised that tai chi was so challenging. My previous ideas to what tai chi was, couldn't have been further from the truth. With the unique material offered by Sifu Waller and his detailed teachings, my mind as well as my body is constantly being challenged. One of the good things too is that the training is open to anyone, whether young or old.

I don't think you will find another school like this anywhere else that offers you a FULL tai chi system to this level. The health benefits are amazing too, I feel more alert, supple and stronger. There are many challenges ahead, lots of training and lots of fun on the journey to understand this art and I'm excited at what's to come. I've also done some martial arts before including tai chi but Sifu Waller's syllabus is so beyond anything I've seen it's ridiculous! Practically all my previous training has not helped me at all and I'm just grateful I found Sifu Waller when I did.

Learning tai chi with your school has become a major aspect of my life.

The tai chi I have learned with you is of a quality I have never encountered before. I do not mean this as false flattery, it is simply fact that in 3 years of studying tai chi in the South East and West of England I effectively learned nothing compared with what I have learned with your school in less than a year.

I have seen a positive development in both my skill and my character, the latter being, I have found, just as important as the former.

Evening classes

Evening classes attract students of all ages and backgrounds. Some people come for health reasons, whilst others seek the martial:

Learned more from Sifu Waller in 6 months than I did in almost 2 years with my previous school.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the training; it is on a completely different level to anything I've done previously.

I have trained with many instructors including yourself where I know that I want what they have (
Peter Young, Chris Chappel, Master Ma, Mikhail Ryabyko, Wai Lum Choi, Alex Kozma, etc).

However, you have a training method that works and have students with real abilities.

This is very rare in the internal arts.
Thanks again.

I've been in attendance of Sifu Waller's school for over 3 years now and from day one I felt it was a good place to be, warm and welcoming but most importantly for me I found it incredibly inspiring and constantly challenging. The way in which the subject material is taught I believe is second to none, incredible attention to detail with friendliness and a patience to really help you along the way. The self defence material taught is quite simply devastating, but the most important thing for me is the manner in which you are taught to apply it, with extreme care and restraint. The refinement of character is priceless.

I very much enjoy your sessions - without any false flattery, you have been one of the best teachers I have had for any martial art. Your commitment, patience and dedication to the art and your students is something that I believe many teachers should aspire to.

To your credit
Sifu Waller, you have shown me something that has I did not expect to find in tai chi... a comprehensive fighting system in itself. I wish the rest of the MA community would wake up and see what you see.

I think the shredding of pre-conceived ideas of what 'tai chi' is was very important (and still is) in the early/beginner stages.

My health has improved - not just physically - also an increase in general wellbeing.

I have a lot of respect for the school and the instructor and the helpers/senior students. It's a joy training with people who have real passion (I don't use the word lightly) for the art and teach it with respect and integrity. As a student you feel privileged to learn. The value of the art is apparent in both the teaching and the learning. There are no illusions about how long the journey of the student will be but one can be confident it will be undertaken in a safe environment.

I like the classes because I know I'm entering a healthy zone.

I've done a lot of travelling, learning, and philosophizing in my life and what I like about your classes is their integrity. I like the total absence of bullshit. It encourages me to embody what I know, to enact the conclusions I've arrived at, and practice walking the walk, however bizarre the walk may appear at times!

By observing the way my body does or doesn't move each week, I'm able to see where the problems are in every other aspect of my life. For this I'm very grateful.

DVD's

We produce modest DVD's for our class members:

Dear Sifu, just some feedback on the DVD. Excellent, very comprehensive. I especially like the text rather than a commentary. Watched it through last night - practicing with it this morning. I really needed something like this as a point of reference in addition to yourself in class. I'm sure this one and the ones I'll get in the future will be good and very useful companions for the future. Thanks

Best wishes

(Trevor)

The Form 1 DVD is excellent, loads of helpful stuff in there. My favourite piece is your Form in MEA house with the music from your wedding ceremony, I found it very moving, beautiful and an inspiration. Thank you.

Strength DVD is excellent ! Lots of material, and the pace/detail is good as well.
