This site
Can you value your
uniqueness, as part of the whole?
Be subtle as breath, and supple as a baby?
Be a polished mirror, reflecting truth perfectly?
(Lao Tzu)
Website
This is an on-line database exploring
tai chi, bagua
and their related
philosophies.
It provides a brief introduction to some of the concepts
associated with tai chi and the way in which our
school approaches the system.
Tai chi is more than simply an exercise or a martial art; it
addresses
how we live and the quality of our lives.
Without a deeper sense of the art, your understanding of the system will remain incomplete
and the benefits limited.
Visitors are welcome
We offer this website for our students to read. It
is a source of background
information.
Non-students are quite welcome to read the material, but should note that the
material was designed to supplement the lessons taught by our
school.
Not everything will make sense to non-students. Not everything will fit
with what you think, or know.
This site offers a crude outline of how
our
school approaches tai chi and taoism.
It does not aim to tutor tai chi.
Navigation
Different coloured
words are hyperlinks.
Navigation bars can be found at the
foot of each
page.
We use an
A-Z contents
list rather than
a conventional site map.
Conversation
A conversation naturally drifts wherever it may lead, like
water
following any route it is offered.
Our website works on the same principle.
Every page is littered with hyperlinks that take you onto associated topics
and themes.
You can simply read each page through from top to bottom, or just follow
your inclination
and sidetrack as often as you want to.
Taoism
advocates crookedness; following your intuition rather than adhering rigidly
to one route.

Lost values
Honour,
charity, compassion, conscience, dignity, morality, responsibility and
restraint are not widely considered in modern society.
When was the last time you heard these words spoken aloud by people you
know?
It may seem naive to work for a better
world.
Krishnamurti advocated each person taking responsibility for who they are
and how they interact with everything else.
In a culture that embraces indifference towards others, it is a challenge.
When nobody really talks and nobody really listens, can you make a
difference?
Not for you?
Not everyone will like this site or agree with its content. That is fine.
There is always
another site you can look at.
The site is not intended to be popular or agreeable.
It is what it is. And you are who you are. The two may not always find
accord.
